Established in 2001, Tree Fever Designs (formerly Tree Fever Turnings) is a family business owned and operated by us, Matthias and Kim Boening. We manufacture affordable, high-quality custom kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and solid wood furniture.

During his former career as a chef and restaurateur, Matthias designed and renovated his own commercial kitchens and restaurants. At the same time, he was beginning to explore a new passion: wood turning. He began to make wood turnings that were carried in several fine galleries in Canada and the northwestern United States. His work was featured in the New York Times and Oprah magazine.
Matthias’ passion for working with wood was so intense that we joked it was more like a fever, hence the name “Tree Fever Designs.”
After leaving the restaurant business, we produced Tree Fever wood turnings for two years, and then began to build custom furniture for condo developments on the Fernie and Kimberley ski hills. We later expanded the business to include custom kitchens and millwork; our work can be found in Banff and Canmore, Calgary, Red Deer, the Kootenays, and up and down Vancouver Island.
We have built furniture and millwork for various several condominium projects such as Timber Stone Trickle Creek Lodge , Northstar Mountain Village Resort, and Sullivan Stone Lodge in Kimberley, as well as Banff Gate Mountain Resort.
In 2008, we started working with retailer/distributors. Our furniture has been carried by Sims Furniture in Red Deer since 2009. At the 2014 Alberta Home Show, Sims won the award for best medium-sized booth with some of Tree Fever Designs’ furniture.
We have made our home on Vancouver Island since relocating from the East Kootenays in 2011.
Our manufacturing facility and studio is conveniently located right off the Old Island Highway, 20 minutes from both Courtenay and Campbell River on Vancouver Island. You are welcome to call us to make an appointment. Come and see our shop and learn about our work.
